Tomori and Taki write a new song, though Anon struggles to play it while Rāna does so with ease. Unsatisfied with the lack of progress, Taki relegates Anon to practicing basic chords while Rāna's inconsistent appearances at practices prevents the band from operating cohesively. Taki's frustrations boil over as a byproduct of overworking herself while trying to mimic Sakiko's band leadership, and she begins skipping practice. Anon and Tomori visit Taki at Hanasakigawa about her absence before encountering Rāna, a Hanasakigawa junior high school student.
