Kiyoka invites Miyo on their first date. Miyo has no idea what to do and simply tries to not be a bother. Elsewhere, Kouji's father is furious to have lost Miyo's Usuba bloodline for Kazushi's future children, but is assured by her father that once Kiyoka scares her away, Kazushi can retrieve her. Kaya is frustrated to overhear them still discussing Miyo, especially as she suspects Kouji still loves Miyo. Meanwhile, remembering Yurie told him about Miyo mending her own clothes, Kiyoka secretly commissions a sakura blossom kimono. Miyo decides to hide her lack of magic in case Kiyoka abandons her. Kiyoka later gifts her a comb, despite Yurie's claim a comb is a definite sign that he is making a proposal to her. The next day, Kiyoka receives the details of the investigation into the Saimori family and is disgusted by the blatant evidence of their abuse towards Miyo. He also learns of her lack of magic and relation to the Usubas, whose magic can manipulate people's minds. As he is about to return to Miyo, he destroys several shikigami, furiously realizing someone was spying on him.
