Ann discovers that Eliza, the Thomas 'eldest daughter, bears her grandmother's name, and the names of Orace and Edward, the thomas' two mischievous younger children, have been chosen by their father Bert. She then wonders who could have chosen hers, which she considers banal and at the end of a busy day Mrs. Thomas reveals that her real name, Anna with the "a" at the end (and not Ann as she had always been until then called), was chosen by his father.
