Edward and Alphonse visit a blind alchemist named Judou who had supposedly performed a successful human transmutation. Judou is an alchemist employed by the Humbergang family and he tells Edward that the young girl named Rosalie Humbergang playing nearby with Alphonse was resurrected through alchemy. The transmutation cost him his sight in equivalent exchange, however he refuses to reveal to Edward the techniques he used. Rosalie leads Alphonse to a room with a little girl's shrivelled corpse inside. She reveals the corpse is the result of the failed Rosalie transmutation, and that she is an orphan girl named Amy who was adopted because of to her similar appearance to Rosalie. As Edward arrives on the scene, Lady Humbergang tells him that her late husband kept the truth about the failed transmutation from Judou, who truly wanted to resurrect Rosalie. The Elric brothers then leave, taking this knowledge with them.
