Fat Albert has doubts about the ability of his friends Cosgrove and Doreen to accept the responsibility of owning a new puppy. Cosgrove and Doreen leave their puppy, Freddie, home alone and he escapes through the window and ends up on the highway, becoming endangered by the heavy traffic. Fat Albert is able to call the police, who are able to save the puppy in time. Cosgrove and Doreen learn a hard lesson about responsibility.
