Amid sightings of a huge number of monsters running through the road at night, Ruli takes Hiro and Kiyoshirō for a ride in a go-kart track, where they spot Sistermon Ciel stealing one of the karts by Jellymon's suggestion. The children chase after her just to get their Digimon involved in a race for survival against MetalPhantomon, who forces the participants to run around all the night, absorbing those he catches or attempts to escape. Learning that the race was Sistermon Ciel's idea, Ruli deceives her into fighting MetalPhantomon, until an unknown Digimon appears in their way and opens a portal that sends all the contestants back to the Digital World, except for the children and their partners.
