In a flashback, Soyo recounts moving to a new neighborhood with her mother and attending Tsukinomori's middle school, where she became a double bass player in the school's brass band. Her performance attracted Sakiko's interest and she is approached about joining what would become CRYCHIC. Distraught about the band's collapse and Sakiko's words, Soyo reasons her actions have been selfless. Anon, Taki, and Tomori try to reach out to Soyo but are repeatedly ignored. After Taki intercepts Soyo at an upcoming brass band event, Soyo reveals her plan to reform CRYCHIC at all costs including discarding Anon and Rāna once necessary. Taki invites her friend and support musician Umiri Yahata as the interim bassist, though she quickly leaves upon noticing their disconnect. When Taki discloses Soyo's intentions, Anon departs as well.
