Yoshinobu and the others discover that Seimei has been found in a village west of Lake Biwa and immediately go after him. Having parted ways with the Shinsengumi after Kondo made the decision to serve Mugensai, Yamazaki is reunited with Kondo, as if guided by the hand of fate. Meanwhile, Takasugi and Katsura have finished their devices against mechanical dolls and work to place them around the city, but when Takasugi returns to his hideout, he is attacked by Hijikata and the Shinsengumi and arrested. When Takasugi later wakes up on one of the airships, he finds Mugensai.
